6-Day Selfdrive Tour
This is a ‘sample’ Selfdrive-Tour of 12 nights / 13 days which takes you around the major tourist attractions of Namibia. Most first-time visitors follow this route or compose a very similar itinerary.
You will see: Windhoek, the Hardap dam and edges of the Kalahari, the Naukluft mountains, Sossuslvei and the Sesriem canyon, the Namib-Naukluft Park, Walvis Bay with its famous lagoon, Swakopmund, you will travel through the Damaraland (view Welwitschias, the seals at Cape Cross and Twyfelfontein en route) to Khorixas and the highlight of your holidays will certainly be the 4-day stay in the Etosha National Park.
On the return to Windhoek, you come through Tsumeb with the famous Bushman collection in the little museum, the Hoba meteorite, and in Okahandja there is a big woodcarvers’ market for your last minute souvenir shopping.
Day 1
Windhoek
Buzzing and cosmopolitan capital of Namibia. Luxurious hotels and super-fast internet, and time to enjoy a stylish glass of Shiraz on the terrace of a good hotel.
Day 3
Sossusvlei
The highest sand dunes of the world. Take a 4×4 tour past the usual ‘vlei’ to the more remote spots where you will witness the extraordinary, adapted wildlife!
Day 6
Swakopmund
Charming little town with German colonial flair, directly at the Atlantic. Enjoy the various day activities or just a solitary stroll on the beach, and one of the many good restaurants!
Day 10
Etosha National Park
Famous for its wildlife. You will find peace of mind, just driving from waterhole to waterhole, observing the abundance of wild animals and taking an occasional photo.
Day 13
Windhoek
Homesick for Namibia before you have even left? – That’s best described by the German word ‘Fernweh’. See you back soon!
